Ontario Swim Officials

    Welcome to our OFFICIALS portal!

You will be kept up-to-date here with all things officiating!

Effective Sept. 1st, 2015 the national registration procedures changed. The new requirements yielded that all Officials who wish to officiate at a sanctioned competition must be registered annually on the Swimming Canada registration site within two weeks (fourteen days) of commencing activity as an Official.

An "Official" is defined as an individual pursuing officiating certification in order to volunteer qualified officiating services at sanctioned swimming competitions.
There are three categories of Officials: 1) New Official; 2) Returning Club Affiliated Official; 3) Independent Official (New or Returning).

REGISTER TO OFFICIATE AT A SWIM MEET

All competitive swimming clubs in Ontario are required to provide officials at Swim Ontario sanctioned swim meets! As GCAC continues to grow, we must ensure that we meet Swim Ontario expectations in terms of the number of officials and the required minimum of officials at each level. This will become a very important requirement to be met in order for GCAC to host sanctioned swim meets in the future!

With this in mind, we ask that all GCAC competitive swim families take  the opportunity to volunteer and participate in at least one session at every meet!

Being on deck is a great vantage point as it makes swim meets much more exciting for spectating your child's races, and it's a fantastic way to make new aquaintances! You will also learn a great deal more about swim meet operations.

Please keep in mind that swimming is unique in that the sport heavily relies on volunteers to organize & run the forum in which the athletes compete. Your athletes!  By taking part in competitions you're fulfilling a valuable role for all athletes! While they may not say it enough -or at all- they do appreciate it... and the coaches do too :)  GCAC would like to extend a special thank you for all you do for our athletes in the sport, and the team!!!
